NORTHWEST AIRLINES PLANE ABORTS TAKEOFF

DETROIT, A Northwest Airlines Airbus A320 slid off the runway during takeoff from Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Three people were injured and the runway was closed for several hours. The plane was carrying 157 passengers. The cause of the accident is not clear. An investigation was launched.
