Trump inaugurates the "US Space Command"

The ceremony today at the "Oval Office"

Today, on August 29 at 4:00 pm local time, "The United States Space Command" will be officially restored and President Trump will organize a ceremony at his Oval Office. Air Force General John Raymond was chosen as leader by the Senate. Joseph Dunford, commander of the General Staff and US Vice President Mike Pence will also be present at the ceremony. He affirmed "the importance of the Army in Space in contributing to the defense of the American people, its interests and its values both in the immensity of the Universe and on Earth".

The Trump's administration pointed to potential threats from China and Russia as part of the motivation behind the creation of the Space Army. France also announced last month the creation of its own "Space Force" (see AVIONEWS).
