Kobe Bryant's body identified by fingerprints. The remains of the 9 victims, including that of the basketball champion, were recovered from the wreckage of the helicopter crashed near Los Angeles (see AVIONEWS). The remains of two men and a woman are also recognized as belonging: the 56 year-old base coach John Altobelli, the pilot Ara Zobayan (50) and Sarah Chester (45). Work continues to locate the remaining five dead, including Bryan's 13-year-old daughter.
Kobe Bean Bryant (Philadelphia, August 23, 1978 - Calabasas, January 26, 2020) was an American basketball man. He played mainly in the role of shooting guard and is considered among the best players in the history of the NBA. Son of Joe Bryant and grandson of mother of Chubby Cox , both ex-athletes, Bryant grew up in Italy, where he learned European fundamentals, and has played for his entire career NBA in the Los Angeles Lakers, team with which has won 5 titles. He was on NBA for 20 years. With the US national team he participated in the Fiba Americas Championship 2007 and the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 and London 2012, winning the gold medal in all three events. On March 4, 2018 he also won the Oscar prize together with the director and animator Glen Keane, in the category of best animated short film for Dear Basketball, which he wrote inspired by his farewell letter to basketball. He is among the best known sportsmen in the world and his career is considered one of the best in the history of professional sport.
