Slovenia continues to believe in a new carrier

Options are different and all possible

Who do we want to dedicate this toast to? All Slovenian citizens ask this in "Zdravljica", national anthem of the Balkan country, but perhaps an answer could have been found: the "toast" for the birth of a new national air carrier should not be long, an hypothesis to which Ljubljana government has been studying for some time. In the last hours, local media spoke of an acceleration of the process (read also the article published by AVIONEWS). Funds available at the moment amount to about 70 million euros, an initiative that should make it possible to better overcome the crisis triggered by the coronavirus. According to reports from the ministry of economy, the state can be involved in the establishment of the airline with loans or through the subscription of shares.

Among other things, an air carrier from a neighboring country, namely Croatia Airlines, should also be involved. An alternative solution to the new national airline is the one imagined by Solinair, a Slovenian airline active in the cargo sector which has already given its willingness to invest with a significant share. The possibility of an agreement with Lufthansa for the maintenance of routes departing from the capital Ljubljana has not been denied. There is no shortage of options and local newspapers are confident that each phase can be completed in 2021.
