Heathrow Airport: stop booking until August 8

British Airways carrier initiative to suspend ticket sales

There is no peace at London-Heathrow Airport. Amid delays, staff shortages and strikes, there continues to be major disruptions in air passenger transport and related services. At the London airport, in particular, the limitation on maximum daily passenger volume imposed on airlines by the airport's operators has led the Brit flag carrier to make an unprecedented move.

British Airways has suspended until August 8 the sale of airline tickets for short-haul flights departing from the London airport. The suspension by the airline, a subsidiary of the Iag Group, affects direct flights to domestic and European destinations.

Although disruptions are currently contained at the London airport, the introduction of a daily passenger flow cap at Heathrow has led British Airways to cancel some 4,000 flights over the summer period. A similar situation of inconvenience occurs at other major European airports.
