NATO exercise kicks off today

"Air Defender 23" involves 250 aircraft and 10,000 soldiers from 25 countries

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) kick off today the joint exercise "Air Defender 23", which take place from 12 to 23 June 2023. It is the largest operation to deploy air forces in Europe in the history of the Alliance Atlantic. The guide is entrusted to Germany. Approximately 250 aircraft and 10,000 soldiers from 25 countries are involved.

"The exercise is not only about deterrence, but about the readiness of our force: it is about coordination, not only within NATO, but with our other allies and partners outside of NATO", explained the director of the United States Air National Guard General Michael Loh.

He was echoed by the US ambassador to Germany, Amy Gutmann: "I would be quite surprised if some world leader does not take note of what this alliance will show in terms of spirit, which means the strength of this alliance. And that includes Putin". In fact, the exercise represents a real demonstration of strength against possible adversaries such as Russia.
