Frankfurt: disabled passenger remains on the ground

The airport assistant was missing at the German airport

A 13-year-old passenger in a wheelchair was left stranded along with his family members by German air carrier Lufthansa. It happened in recent days at Frankfurt airport, due to the lack of staff assigned to special assistance for Passengers with Reduced Mobility (Prm). The protagonist is a family from Anzio (near Rome): two parents and three daughters who returned to Rome on August 17 after a holiday in Scotland.

"Bounced without mercy or excuses. They rejected us like parcels late at night with three children. In addition, Giulio's anti-epileptic drug remained in the luggage of the missed flight, but they did not return it to us", is the complaint of the parents, Federica and Marco: "They inform us that we will be re-protected on the 9:30pm flight. Then, having arrived at the gate, we immediately point out that no one has come to pick us up and that, as recorded on the reservations, we will need assistance. I repeated at least three times in those two hours to the employees of our needs, even when they rudely accused us of having missed the alleged appointment with the employee".

According to the provisions of the European regulation, in force since 2006, the air carrier, as requested by the passenger, should have compulsorily apply to the German airport, to have an employee available to provide the necessary motor assistance to the boy; instead nothing. The Frankfurt-Rome flight at 4:45pm was cancelled, followed by hours of waiting, then the refusal to board during the day; finally the return flight scheduled for the following day, after a night spent in a hotel 30 kilometers from the airport.
