Change of CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft Division
From January 1st, 2026, it will be Lars Wagner, succeeding Christian Scherer

Lars Wagner, currently CEO of Mtu Aero Engines based in Munich, will join the executive committee of Airbus and succeed Christian Scherer as CEO of the Commercial Aircraft Division, starting January 1st, 2026. He will join the European aerospace giant at the beginning of November 2025 to ensure a smooth transition with Scherer, who will remain CEO of the division until December 31, completing a career spanning over 40 years in various leadership roles at Airbus.
Wagner, 50 years old, has been CEO of Mtu since January 2023. Prior to his appointment and with the company since 2015, he notably held the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, with responsibility for OEM operations. Earlier, he held various management positions at Airbus, including in Bremen, Hamburg, and Toulouse. He holds a degree in mechanical and aeronautical engineering and an MBA.
