Planes. Russia and Indonesia finalize MoU on the Su-35

11 units according to a commercial exchange agreement

Moscow is looking for new markets in which to place its armaments, Jakarta has every interest to develop its business relations with the largest Nation in the world, specifically enhancing the export of coffee, tea and palm oil. This is the introduction that has led in recent days to the completion of an agreement by representatives of the two countries for the supply of 11 Sukhoi Su-35 aircraft to Indonesia; $ 4.1 billion contract announced by the defense minister of Jakarta Ryamizard Ryacudu last July 26 after two years of negotiations, and signed in August.

Specifically the spokesperson of Minister Ryacudu, Totok Sugiharto has specified that two units will be delivered next August, and another six ones will be 18 months after the signing of the contract. Five months after this last supply there will be the delivery of the remaining 3 airplanes. The fighters will be operated by the national Army Aviation, Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara, Tni-Au.

As explained by the Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukitaer, it is an agreement to the full advantage of the Asian Nation: in this way Jakarta strengthens both its export -meeting to the requirement for those commodities that Russia needs after the embargo imposed by the Western countries for the annexation of Crimea-, and the partnership with Moscow in various sectors including tourism, education, energy, technology and precisely aviation.

The Su-35 is the designation of two separate upgrades derived from the Su-27 Flanker. It is a multi-purpose fighter plane designed by Sukhoi and built by Komsomolsk-na-Amur Aircraft Production Association. Russia with 98 units ordered in two segments is the first user, followed by China, with 24 aircraft ordered in 2015 (deliveries will end this year), and therefore Indonesia with just 11 airplanes in the Su-35S Flanker-E version.
