Russia: criticism of the missile defense system in Romania

The accusation is to conceal intermediate-range missiles

The Aegis Ashore -the US anti-missile ballistic defense system- present in Romania and soon also in Japan is considered a threat to Russian security. To say it -as reported by "Tass"- was a diplomat of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest, which sees in this deployment a violation of the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) signed by Ronald Reagan and Michail Gorbačëv in 1986 at the summit in Reykjavik.

Statements that respond to the words of the Romanian Defense Minister Mihai Fifor who said that Romania "had a missile base at Deveselu" to counter any Russian initiative. But for Russia these affirmations could also hide the presence of Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM), prohibited by the INF Treaty.
