Australia: student pilot lands after instructor passes out
Perfect execution but it was his first Cessna flight
Max Sylvester, a flight pilot student in Australia, managed to make the landing after his instructor passed out. With professionalism and a cool head he made an emergency call to the Perth airport controllers and saved the situation despite being his first flight aboard a Cessna aircraft. First he flew for over an hour over Jandakot airport, practiced approaching and when he felt safe he landed on the runway.
Despite the unfortunate situation, the flight school owner Chuck McElwee declared his astonishment that the aircraft was not damaged in any way and the landing was flawless.
The instructor was rescued and is now in the hospital in stable condition.
