Germany. Volocopter develops helicopters for taxi service
To transport people and cargo - VIDEO
The German aircraft manufacturer Volocopter is developing autonomous electric helicopters for take-off and landing (eVtol) to offer taxi services in cities around the world as an addition to existing transport options (see AVIONEWS). The company recently made a public flight over the Marina Bay reservoir in Singapore.
Jochen Thewes, CEO of Db Schenker, a logistics and transport company, said: "We are convinced that Volocopter technology has the right potential for our customers. Db Schenker has already tested autonomous and electric vehicles in numerous innovation projects and in real operations. By integrating 'VoloDrone' into our supply chain we will be able to meet the demand for fast, remote, emission neutral deliveries. We are excited to be part of this drive for innovation in a fantastic team".
