Is Leonardo interested in Caio?

The CEO role of the Italian largest aerospace company likes to many

Intense days for the government which, committed on the one hand to the epidemic and its economic and financial consequences on the Italian country, must also bring to an end some important dossiers such as the renewal of the position as CEO of Leonardo. Alessandro Profumo has put on the balance positive financial results even if criticisms have not been lacking on the operational programs of the company in Piazza Monte Grappa in Rome, and it seems that some "stomachaches" also come from the other side of the Atlantic. Someone says for the F-35 aircraft program and for certain responses from Leonardo, someone else recalls the attempts of entry into the US market of the Italian industry, which the American Group Lockheed Martin did not like, and perhaps not even personally to its new president and CEO James Taiclet (see AVIONEWS).

AVIONEWS wonders how much these rumors are not artfully put around perhaps just to credit the fact that Italians "look across the sea for their choices". It is certain that Francesco Caio, a degree in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano and a master in Business Administration (MBA) from Insead Fontainebleau, has some managerial experience of a more technical nature and technologically close to Leonardo's core business. Caio has gone from high technology, to finance, to telecommunications in companies such as Olivetti, Omnitel, Merloni Eldo SpA, Netscalibur, Lehman Brothers and Avio, ending with Poste. He is the director of the listing operation of Poste on the Stock Exchange: the largest Initial Public Offer in Europe in 2015, and the most important in Italy in the last 10 years.

Now Caio is in Saipem since 2018 as president, and is preparing "to pack his bags" (we do not know whether rightly or wrongly, Editor's note) having brought home some positive results in 2019, with a return of the dividend after almost 7 years and a closure for the year with a profit of € 12 million. Then there was the coronavirus and the title is at a minimum. Will this turnaround benefit the Italian system?
