Trial concerns choices of hostesses and stewards
Too discriminatory approach: this is the accusation against carrier United Airlines (read also the article published by AVIONEWS), sued by two flight attendants who did not like the policy on the choice of personnel. The court case is soon explained. According to these employees of American company, hostesses and stewards would have been selected giving priority to the younger ones and especially those with blond hair. Reference of accusers went to the air connections secured by travel charters of the US football teams.
The approach was defined as "unfair", as well as based on "stereotypical notions of sexual attraction". Assistants who have sued United Airlines, have also revealed in recent hours that they have tried several times to become part of the crew of charter flights but without any success. The accusations were made specifically by two women: one assistant is black and was hired 28 years ago, while another stated that she was Jewish and had worked for the carrier for over three decades. Typically, selected charter stewards and hostesses earn more, as well as receiving bonuses such as sporting event tickets and other passes.
