Aircraft: collision in flight between KC-130J Hercules and Marine F-35B

Contact during in-flight refuelling; no casualties -VIDEO

A United States Marine Corps Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II airplane collided with a KC-130J Hercules yesterday during an in-flight refuelling operation. The pilot of the F-35B successfully ejected, and the plane crashed to the ground, apparently without causing damage to property or people. The Hercules with 8 soldiers on board instead made an emergency landing in a carrot field near Thermal, California.

The KC-130J in question is in force at Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352 in Miramar, California, and appears to have sustained substantial damage to the number 3 and 4 engines and propellers as well as the refuelling probe. No casualties were recorded among the soldiers on board.
