Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, "government" terminal opens
German airport will be open to public on October 31st
Yesterday evening, Wednesday October 21, 2020, German defense ministry formalized the departure of operations relating to the government terminal of the new Berlin-Brandenburg airport (read also the article published by AVIONEWS). In this way, political-parliamentary air connections from the Teutonic capital will be ensured; the inauguration immediately involved a representative of the executive. We are talking about Julia Kloeckner, Minister of Food and Agriculture who had gone to Luxembourg for a summit with other European Union counterparts and whose plane landed right at this airport.
For 26 years, the aircraft that have transported important personalities as regards Germany have relied on another Berlin airport, that of Tegel; the latter is destined to close its doors next November and after almost three decades a change was therefore necessary. The Berlin-Brandenburg airport is about to be open to the public, the chosen date is that of October 31st after years and years of delays and postponements (it was already talked about in 2011 just to get an idea of what happened). During this long wait, six dates that were almost certain for the debut have been postponed, raising costs by at least 6 billion euros.
