Defence. US approves missiles sale to Taiwan

Washington fears an attack from China

Yesterday, on Wednesday October 21st, 2020, Trump administration formalized the sale of air-to-ground missiles for a total of one billion dollars to Taiwan. According to reports from the State Department, Washington accepted the sale of 135 precision AGM-84H / K SLAM-ER missiles, as well as related equipment. It is not difficult to imagine the use, given that relations between Taipei and China was very tense for months now (read also the article published by AVIONEWS) and Asian Nation made it known that it wants to strengthen its defenses against the threat of Beijing. This is not the only commercial operation of this type that involved United States and Taiwan in the last few hours; in fact, it was decided to sell to the Asian country also 6 Ms-110 for aerial reconnaissance and 11 light M142 rocket launchers, for a total very close to 2 billion dollars.

Concerns about the geopolitical situation increased last week. China released a video in which a full-scale military exercise could be seen with the simulated invasion of a territory not very different from Taiwan. Washington's intentions seem clear, Republic of China must improve its weapons in any case, be it an amphibious landing or missile attack, an "meddling" that Beijing never shew to like.
