Heathrow Airport: record number of passengers in March

Holland-Kaye: "It is good to see the airport return to normal after two years"

The number of passengers passing through London-Heathrow Airport in March 2022 is the highest since the start of the pandemic: 4.2 million travellers in one month. Demand was driven primarily by Britons' bookings for leisure travel abroad and the removal of much of the anti-Vid restrictions on air travel.

"It's great to see the airport back to normal after two years. I want to thank all colleagues for working together to serve our passengers. They are doing everything they can at Heathrow to make sure everything runs as smoothly and safely as possible for travellers", said London airport CEO John Holland-Kaye

Demand for inbound leisure and business travel remains weak, mainly due to the resurgence of the virus, with some outbreaks scattered across the country, and because of the requirement for travellers to perform an anti-virus test. Concerns remain among airport management about the arrival of potential new variants, high fuel prices, low economic growth and the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
