Astrosamantha walks in the space
Cristoforetti in history as first European female astronaut to walk in the cosmos - VIDEO

With an almost 7-hour spacewalk, astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti became the first European woman to make a space walk outside the International Space Station (ISS). She exited the hatch at 4:58 pm Italian time and re-entered at 11:56 pm. Once outside, she docked outside the orbiting module to begin extravehicular work operations.
The mission was carried out in the company of Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev. Activities performed outside included: installing components for future missions, deploying 10 nanosatellites designed to collect radio-electronic data, and operating a telescopic arm to assist future spacewalks.
Below is a video showing the moments leading up to and as the two astronauts exit the International Space Station (ISS). Next, images show the two at work around the orbiting modules.
