ITA Airways: new BoD of five appointed

Antonino Turicchi new executive president; Fabio Lazzerini confirmed CEO

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef), as sole shareholder, communicated new developments on the tricolor air carrier ITA Airways. As anticipated in recent days, the number of members of the Board of Directors has been reduced to five (previously it was nine), while the main change concerns the management to which the powers were entrusted during the shareholders' meeting which was held carried out yesterday morning.

This is the board of the company: Antonino Turicchi has been appointed new executive president; Fabio Lazzerini confirmed in the role of CEO; the councilors Gabriella Alemanno (former director general of the Campania section of the Revenue Agency since 2020), the professor of Economics of the University of Milan-Bicocca Ugo Arrigo, finally Frances Ouseley (ex-Alitalia and easyJet Italia) who was already an independent director of ITA Airways. On November 16, the meeting with the unions to talk about wages and prospects.

The new slimmer board should lead the company along a more agile privatization path, which could last about two months. The Mef will negotiate with one of the two consortiums previously interested: the Italian-German MSC-Lufthansa or the US investment fund Certares (together with the carriers Air France and Delta Air Lines). Among the objectives of the Executive there is also that of avoiding the payment of the third installment of aid: 250 million euros in 2023.
