Aircraft transport and more. Italian strike next December 2

Workers of the maritime, railway and road sectors demonstrate

On December 2, 2022, the 24-hour general transport strike is triggered in Italy. To cross their arms workers in the maritime, railway, road and air sectors. All employees in the public and private sectors, from healthcare to schools and factories, are also affected by the mobilization. The aim of the protest is to ask for better remuneration conditions and the reintroduction of the escalator.

The basic trade union union (Usb) explains the reasons for the strike thus: "The reports of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Editor's note) and other international bodies have certified what was already evident: wages Italians have been at a standstill for decades and are among the lowest in Europe. Currently the average salary of a permanent worker is around 1550 Euros, an average net worker receives 1350 Euros, a warehouse contract 1100 Euros, a social-health worker 1000 EUR". "Down the guns and raise the wages".

The aviation and maritime sectors are closed for 24 hours from 11:59 on December 1 to the same time on December 2nd. Instead, in the railway sector the mobilization will start at 9:00pm on December 1 and will end the following day. With regard to motorway transport, the time off work will start at 10:00 pm and end 24 hours later. As far as public transport is concerned, the strike will have the same duration but according to different territorial modalities.
