Aircraft. ITA Airways: Lufthansa executives in Rome

Two days of meetings to define privatisation

The top management of the German aviation group Lufthansa will be in Italy between today and tomorrow for a meeting with the managers of the air carrier ITA Airways. Some Expert Sessions would in fact be scheduled between Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 November. During the meetings we will try to get more information on some aspects of the privatization of the Italian flag carrier.

This is what Italian newspaper "Il Corriere della Sera" reports, which cites government sources, according to which the face-to-face meeting will serve to design the road-map that will lead to a draft agreement between the German airline and the Ministry of Economy and finances (Mef). Three main topics on the agenda: the reduced value of ITA Airways to 450-500 million Euros (impaired income statements); the European and intercontinental network of air links; the question of human resources with the issue of unemployed ex-Alitalia workers.

In the two days there should also be a political meeting between Lufthansa and members of the Meloni government. This is because the Executive is discussing the possible creation of an Italian-German consortium in which Lufthansa would be supported by the Ferrovie dello Stato group. Rome 's objective is to enhance the country's strategic assets: above all the "Leonardo da Vinci" airports of Rome-Fiumicino and those of Milan (Linate and Malpensa).
