US will sell aircraft parts to Taiwan

State Department approved shipment of F-16 components

The US State Department has approved the sale of parts for General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft to the Taiwan Air Force. The value of the deal is 428 million dollars. This is a move that aims to help the armed forces in the defense operations of the island, severely tested by the repeated violations of the air and sea space by Chinese planes and ships.

"The possible sale will help bolster Taipei's air fleet, enhancing its ability to cope with current and future threats, while providing transportation and defensive capabilities critical to regional security", the Pentagon said in a statement.

This "will help maintain adequate equipment -continues the Pentagon- and the supply of fighter planes by our air force, to meet the needs of defense and combat training, as well as to ensure that our traditional military power fight does not decrease". "Taiwan will continue to steadfastly demonstrate its ability to defend its sovereignty and protect national security".
