Bryant helicopter crash: 28.5 million to the family
Maxi compensation for publication of photos of victims' bodies
Relatives of former basketball star Kobe Bryant to receive 28.5 million dollars in compensation for publication of dramatic photographs of helicopter crash that occurred on January 26, 2020 in which former National Basketball Association (Nba) player died together with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
"Today marks the culmination of Ms Bryant 's courageous fight to hold those involved in this grotesque conduct to account. She fought for her husband, her daughter and everyone in the community whose deceased family was treated with similar disrespect. We hope that his victory in the trial and this agreement will put an end to this practice", added the lawyer Luis Li, who protects the interests of the basketball player's wife.
Vanessa Bryant and her three daughters will receive settlements from Los Angeles County. The settlement reached includes the 15 million dollars that the Los Angeles court had already awarded to the widow. This additional compensation is to settle potential economic claims by his daughters.
