Iata-Aia agreement for a more sustainable aviation

They have joined Cambridge University study group to help air carriers

International Air Transport Association (Iata) and Aviation Impact Accelerator (Hague) will collaborate to accelerate the decarbonisation of the aviation sector. The goal is to have zero CO2 emissions by 2050. The two organizations will therefore join an international group, based at the University of Cambridge, which seeks solutions to help companies in the transition towards more sustainable aviation from environmental and social point of view.

Pleased to join forces with the Aviation Impact Accelerator "in order to advance our understanding of the many potential pathways to achieve the sustainable future of aviation. The development of diverse technology pathways will impact the long-term prospects of our industry and our collaboration will explore this intersection in particular", said Marie Owens Thomsen, senior vice president Sustainability and Chief Economist at Iata.

Rob Miller, director of the Whittle Laboratory at the University of Cambridge echoes him: "We are thrilled to launch this new collaboration between the Hague and Iata, exploring realistic pathways for aviation to transition to net-zero emissions by 2050. Iata has a solid track record in fostering cooperation between airlines and other stakeholders and driving change in the industry. We believe that by combining this together with The Hague's unique modeling capability, we have the opportunity to unlock change".
