Big aviation sector actor bets on solar

The Safran Helicopter Engine division focuses on photovoltaics to have a zero footprint

The US branch of the Safran Helicopter Engines company has entered into an agreement with a local company to install a photovoltaic panel system on the roof of the factory located in Grand Prairie, Texas. This initiative will serve to offset the energy costs of the company that builds engines for helicopters, providing covered parking for its employees. The facility is expected to be completed in September 2023.

"We are delighted to be one of the first Safran plants in the United States to install solar panels at our facility. Reducing our carbon footprint is an important goal for the company. This project brings us closer to achieving our goal, which is to reduce the 30% of Co2 emissions by 2025", said Thierry Derrien, President and Chief Executive Officer of Safran Helicopter Engines in America.
