Lufthansa: 55 million travellers in six months

Spohr: "Clear focus on stability has proven to be the right thing to do"

The German aviation Group Lufthansa has today communicated the half-yearly data as well as the estimates for the entire year 2023: at an economic level, it recorded a net profit of 881 million euros from April to June 2023 (+259 million compared to the same period of 2022), and between January and June it welcomed more than 55 million travellers (+30% on 2022). A performance illustrated with satisfaction by the management of the airline.

"Thanks to the great efforts of our employees, we were able to avoid conditions like last summer and once again offer customers more stable air traffic", said Lufthansa Chief Executive Officer Carsten Spohr, commenting on the half-year results.

"On the ground, in the cockpit, in the cabin or in the maintenance hangars, it was our employees around the world who made possible both reliable flight operations and the financially best second quarter in history. The clear focus on stability it has therefore proven to be the right thing to do for customers, employees and shareholders".
