India: new Terminal 2 at Bangalore airport

Scheduled opening on September 12th; it will be able to handle up to 25 million passengers per year

Take-off and landing operations will begin on September 12th in the new Terminal 2 of the "Kempegowda" international airport in Bengaluru, India. The official confirmation came with the publication of the news on the social network accounts by the airport management company.

"After consultation with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders, Bengaluru International Airport Limited announces the commencement of international operations at T2 on 12 September 2023 at 10.45 am. We are committed to our passengers to take all necessary measures to facilitate a smooth transfer of international operations to the new facility in close coordination with our airline partners", on read on the social media.

T2 has a surface area of 255,661 square meters, can handle up to 25 million passengers per year, and is equipped with artificial intelligence systems for air and vehicle traffic control. Bengaluru airport was supposed to open the facility on August 31, but postponed everything to avoid canceled and delayed flights. It said this decision was made after careful evaluation of various factors, including regulatory compliance, operational efficiency and convenience for passengers.
