Granada Summit: on talk about aid in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Zelensky will ask for military support, after Washington's stop

Convened by Charles Michel the informal European Council which will be held tomorrow, Friday 6 October, in Granada, Spain. Among the dossiers on the table are the enlargement of the European Union, the Russian-Ukrainian war, migrants and artificial intelligence. The President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni will be there for Italy. The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, will ask Kyiv for military support after Washington's stop.

"Kyiv's key priority, especially as winter approaches, is to strengthen air defense. We have already laid the foundations for new agreements with partners and look forward to their approval and implementation". Granada "will be a productive day for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole", said Zelensky.

"Our common goal -he added- is to guarantee the security and stability of the common European home. We are working together with partners to improve the regional security architecture. Ukraine has substantial proposals in this regard: we will pay particular attention to the Black Sea and our joint efforts to strengthen food security and freedom of navigation".

"The meeting in Granada also offers leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak the chance to reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, after political turmoil in the United States and in Europe they have raised doubts about maintaining military support for Kyiv", writes the "Guardian" newspaper, interpreting a video message from Zelensky .
