General strike on Friday 20 October in Italy

Public, air, rail, motorway and maritime transport are affected

A 24-hour general strike at Italian level in the public and private sectors proclaimed for Friday 20 October. The mobilization is called by the unions Confederazione Unitaria di Base (CUB), Unione Sindacale Italiana (USI), Sindacato Generale Sindacale di Base (SGB) and Cobas. Possible interruptions to local public transport (TPL), maritime, rail, air and motorway transport services. The most protected bands will be guaranteed. 

These are the details of the protest in the transport sector: workers in the airline sector will cross their arms from 00:01 to 24:00; in the railway sector, however, the strike was called from 9pm on 19 October to 9pm the following day; as regards motorways, the abstention from work runs from 10pm on 19 October to 10pm the following day; maritime connections with the major and minor islands are suspended from 00:01 to 24:00; finally 24 hours of stoppage of TPL according to various methods at local level. 

Inconvenience expected for air passengers. As a result of the national strike, flights may be subject to delays and cancellations, as well as slowdowns in the usual assistance procedures for passengers and aircraft. The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (Enac) reminds you that during the strikes the protection time slots from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 6:00 to 9:00pm on Friday 20 October 2023 will be guaranteed.
