What to expect in 2024 from air transport

Airlines push ahead with their post-pandemic recovery plans

The 2024 will be the last year for airlines to continue with their post-pandemic plans. In fact, the smooth recovery of airline turnover and passenger traffic volume compared to 2019 is just around the corner: according to estimates by industry experts, including the International Air Transport Association (Iata), the same numbers will be recorded in 2025 numbers achieved in the pre-covid era, in some cases breaking previous records.

The new year will be characterized by a renewal of the fleets, with new airplanes that are more modern, less polluting and less expensive to operate. The modernization will also concern airports, with the construction of new terminals. As regards the aviation industry, however, difficulties in the supply chain on some specific supply chains could continue until 2025.

Experts predict that in 2024 the use of small to medium sized aircraft will make a difference. Such as the narrow-aisle Airbus A321XLR with Business class, the long-range version of the A320neo family of aircraft which will be put on the market at the end of next year. These will be able to better satisfy the current demand for flights from passengers, which is too low for a large aircraft, but which requires more services.
