JetBlue Airways will have a new CEO

Joanna Geraghty will be the only female executive among major American airlines

The US JetBlue has announced in the last few hours that it will soon have a new CEO: Joanna Geraghty, currently President and Chief Operating Officer of the carrier. She will be the only female executive among the main American airlines. She will be in office from February 12th. The manager will succeed current CEO Robin Hayes, who will step down after holding the role for the past nine years.

Future CEO Geraghty has been with JetBlue for nearly two decades. She started in 2005, until she reached the top of the airline. He previously gained his experience as a partner at the law firm Holland & Knight. She holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, where she received her juris doctorate.

The change in management of JetBleue comes at a delicate moment: the airline is waiting for the judges to pronounce the ruling on the merger procedure with Spirit Airlines. It's a deal that could reshape the airline industry. Which is why at the beginning of 2022 the US Department of Justice sued JetBleue, asking the court to block the agreement due to alleged negative effects on the market.
