Piaggio Aerospace: another 12 months in extraordinary administration

The announcement at question time by the Italian Minister of Business Adolfo Urso

The special administration of the Piaggio Aerospace Italian company has been extended by one year. It was announced in recent hours by the Italian Minister of Business and Made in Italy (Mimit), Adolfo Urso, responding during question time in the Chamber of Deputies to a question from parliamentarian Luca Pastorino (Left Party). The Leonardo Group could play an important role in the match, underlined the head of the ministry.

"We received 18 expressions of interest, five offers are being evaluated and there are others arriving from other credible and reliable entities. Precisely for this reason I believe that there are the conditions for the extension of the extraordinary administration for another year, to best conclude this procedure for the sale of this strategic company", declared the minister.

"Leonardo -specified Urso- could play a role in this context. I am convinced of this and obviously I have personally urged the governance to evaluate this opportunity", as hoped for by institutional subjects and trade unions. "However, it is important to underline that this decision is left to the strategies and choices of the company itself, which is listed on the stock exchange and responds to market rules".

This is Pastorino's reply: "We hope that the objective of involving a public or private company will soon be pursued, to protect the employment levels of Piaggio Aerospace, because today the company, numbers in hand, is doing well".

Started in 2018, the special administration of Piaggio Aerospace, which today is in the hands of commissioners Carmelo Cosentino, Vincenzo Nicastro and Davide Rossetti, would have expired at the end of May 2024, but will be extended for another 12 months. Meanwhile, the third tender for the sale is drawing to a close with no results, but this will allow the evaluation of the five new offers out of the 18 received to continue in the best possible way.
