Trieste Airport: photovoltaic system soon to be active

It will allow the airport's consumption to be reduced by 80%

The photovoltaic system at Trieste-Ronchi dei Legionari airport will be operational in the next few days. It is a system capable of developing 3.5 megawatts of power, the largest among those installed in Italian airports. A work that has a dual objective: to stimulate the green transition and reduce the environmental impact of the infrastructure. But other similar initiatives are underway.

To all this "is added a project on cycling in collaboration with the Region to connect the airport to the major cycle routes with the creation of overpasses and underpasses to bypass the motorway and railway", explained the airport's managing director, Marco Consalvo

The photovoltaic system will allow the airport's consumption to be reduced by 80%. These are interventions worth approximately 6 million Euros, with extraordinary maintenance costs of another 5 million Euros. The goal is to have full energy self-sufficiency. Meanwhile, in recent days the board of directors has approved investments of 25 million euros between now and 2027.
