NY State Police orders H-160 and H-145 helicopters

This announcement follows the agency’s order in 2024

New York State Police has placed an order for an H-160 and three H-145 helicopters, making them the first law enforcement agency in the US to add an H-160 to their fleet. This announcement follows the agency’s order of two H-145s in 2024 as New York State Police moves to replace their existing ones.

Originally formed in 1931, the New York State Police Aviation Unit provides services to police across the State, as well as lifesaving and environmental conservation services.

The H-160 is one of the world’s most technologically advanced helicopters, designed and built to deliver the highest levels of operational safety. Capable of performing wide-ranging missions including law enforcement, off-shore transportation, Search and Rescue, private and business aviation, and emergency medical services, the H-160 has entered into service in Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, UK, US and many other European countries.

The H-145 helicopter has been a staple of the airborne law enforcement community for more than two decades. In total, there are more than 1,740 H145 family helicopters in service around the world, and more than 200 of those are used for public services and law enforcement missions. Powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, the model is equipped with Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) and the Helionix digital avionics suite.
