Air India Boeing B-787/8 Dreamliner aircraft crashes

242 people on board. It was headed to London - VIDEO

The plane, flight AI-171, operated by Air India with 242 people on board, crashed at 8:08 UTC. It is a Boeing B-787/8 Dreamliner, registration VT-ANB, which crashed shortly after take-off from runway 23 of the "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel" International Airport in Ahmedabad, Western India; it was headed to London-Gatwick airport.

The accident occurred in the Meghani area of Ahmedabad. A column of thick black smoke rose from the impact. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
