Airspace restrictions will also be in place in Estonia in the coming weeks
At the eastern border of the country, for airliners, sports aviation and civil drones

Following Poland and Latvia, Estonia yesterday also decided to impose restrictions on its airspace in the eastern part of the country. This measure was requested by the Estonian defense forces, Kaitsevägi, "to enable a more efficient response to air border violations" and to "organize more precise air surveillance, training activities, and more flexible air security in the area in the coming weeks, while also ensuring air traffic safety", according to an official statement.
"The flight restriction area will be active in the coming weeks from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The measure applies up to an altitude of 6,000 meters. The zone covers the airspace from north to south, from the eastern shore of Lake Pedassaare-Võrtsjärv to the eastern border of Estonia", the statement emphasizes, adding that the decision affects scheduled civil aviation, sports aviation, and the flight of amateur drones.
"The Estonian defense forces' threat assessment has not changed" the statement clarified. "There is no immediate and direct military threat to Estonia. However, the frequency of air crashes in our region has increased due to Russia's military activities against Ukraine. Finland and Latvia have imposed a similar no-fly zone".
