Brief. The Italian President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the President of the European Council, António Costa, at Palazzo Chigi yesterday, as part of his tour of European capitals, which he began on 27 August.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the main issues currently on the international agenda, with particular reference to the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, and to prepare for the upcoming engagements at European level, starting with the informal European Council meeting and European Political Community meeting to be held in Copenhagen on 1 and 2 October.
