UK: CRISIS ON THE RAILWAYS TO BOOST DOMESTIC AIR TRAVEL
LONDON, All the airlines reported huge rises in passenger numbers, particularly in the routes between London and north of England and Scotland. BA said domestic passenger levels rose between 20% and 30%, 40% from Heathrow to Newcastle. Also Rayanair and British Midland had benefits from the switch from rail to air.
