Rio closes to other Brazilian States by air, land and sea
The runways of Brussels-Charleroi airport are also blocked
The governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel, signed the decree yesterday prohibiting passengers from other Brazilian States in which Covid-19 circulates from entering the territory by air, land or sea. Therefore the closure of airports to planes from these areas as well as to international flights has been arranged. The same are the restrictions for ferries and trains; excluding cars, which will be allowed to enter in the next 15 days. Closed beaches, restaurants, bars, gyms and shopping centers. The measure will now have to be approved by national regulatory agencies. But Witzel has already made it known that if the measure is not ratified, the serious consequences, or the spread of the pandemic in the third Brazilian federated State by population, would be the full responsibility by the federal government.
In Europe, however, the Belgian Brussels-Charleroi airport closes from midnight on March 24 and until April 5. The infrastructure will only remain operational for the movements of State and medical aircraft, and the measure could be extended beyond April 5 if the seriousness of the situation requires it.
