Leonardo presents C-27J aircraft at the exhibition in Pretoria
The airplane is the ideal solution for African countries
Leonardo presents the C-27J as the "best solution" for African Countries. A model of the airplane is on display at the "Africa Aerospace & Defence" ("AAD") exhibition in Pretoria (September 19-23). The plane demonstrated to be particularly suited to support international operations, civil defence, tactical transport and VIP transport. It is the ideal platform for operations in Africa as it can be loaded and perform tactical and operational missions from non-prepared runways, at high altitudes and high temperatures and capabilities. The air forces of Morocco, Chad, Kenya and Zambia have already chosen the C-27J thanks its safe and efficient operating capabilities, costs and its ability to operate in the most difficult operational environments of the continent.
An upgrade program has been set with avionics, communication and winglets to offer themarket an enhanced product. The new C-27J baseline configuration is characterized by abrand new avionics system. The main benefits include compliance with new civil aviation regulations and military requirements as well as obsolescence risk reduction. The new configuration will be tested and qualified in 2018 and it will be available in 2019. New operators will leverage more modern avionics, improved operational and aircraf tperformances.
The airplane has been already ordered by the Air Forces of Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Romania, Marocco, USA, Mexico, Australia, Chad, Peru, Slovakia, Kenya and Zambia for a total of 85 units.
