Alitalia: another extension to the first of December
Still time for the binding offer
The Government would seem willing to endorse the extension request made by Ferrovie dello Stato and Atlantia for the presentation of the binding offer on Alitalia, but only until December 1st.
Another procrastination that comes along with the inevitable EUR 350 millions of bridge loan, without which the former flagship company would have been forced to put the planes at ground (see AVIONEWS).
From the Italian Ministry of Economic Development announced that the assessment will "weigh at this point the letter of Atlantia" of October 2nd, in which the company connected the Alitalia dossier with that of the motorway concessions. The German carrier Lufthansa has not gone yet beyond the mere availability to a commercial partnership.
One of the most important issues to solve and which will be the subject of union negotiations in the coming months, is the final definition of the business plan with clarification of the thousands of redundancies envisaged, on which union negotiations will be focused in the coming months. Time following the signing will also be used for the necessary Antitrust authorizations.
