Alitalia (2): now it is necessary to find a buyer
The former flag carrier is on the market
Green light to the Alitalia sales procedure (see AVIONEWS). The airline is on the square in a context of crisis that affects all European air transport exacerbated by the global emergency of the coronavirus that is bringing companies to their knees (the British carrier Flybe has received the coup de grace and has had to declare bankruptcy - see AVIONEWS), causing the cancellation of flights and the paralysis of the tourism sector. It will be relatively difficult to find a buyer in a short time, despite the unpacking of the aviation, handling and maintenance sections. However, interest in the Lufthansa partnership remains. Our market is an important territory, which if it had not been managed badly, for example by avoiding the sale of a significant portion of the low-cost slots and greater attention to containing competition, there would perhaps be some less weight on the conscience. The call was published on the carrier's website under extraordinary administration and signed by the extraordinary commissioner Giuseppe Leogrande. The deadline is next March 18.
