Aircraft. Aeroflot will offer three-year coupons and discounts for missed flights due to Covid

The Russian airline announces new details on passenger compensation

According to the Russian civil aviation authority writes today, the national airline Aeroflot has announced more details on the vouchers it will offer to passengers whose travel plans have been interrupted due to the pandemic from Covid-19 (due to the cancellation of the connection, and because they have decided not to travel). The vouchers will cover the cost of the ticket and will be valid for three years. There is no mention of money refunds.

The compensation measures include tickets for all domestic and international flights and for all fare classes. Non-refundable tickets for non-cancelled flights are included if the passenger has informed the airline in advance of their intention not to travel. Aeroflot also offers additional incentives to encourage passengers to make future bookings using the new vouchers. Those with tickets for cancelled air links will automatically receive a one-off discount of 15% on the cost of a ticket of the same tariff for a new flight. For passengers with Flex fare tickets, the one-off discount will be 25%.

Discounts are not transferable and cannot be combined. Vouchers are valid for three years from the original travel date. Passengers will be able to apply for vouchers after the end of the current self-isolation regime in Russia, and in any case not before May 15th. Vouchers can be requested from the carrier's sales offices or other official representations.

The offer is applicable to tickets purchased before May 1, 2020:

- for travel to/from China from February 18 included;

- for journeys to/from other international destinations from 5th March included;

- for travel on domestic routes from March 18 included.

Tickets purchased from May 1st will benefit from Aeroflot's standard rules on refunds and returns.
