Air France, Paris: "We will ensure carrier survival"
French Minister of Economy spoke
“We will make whatever is necessary”: Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy, assured in recent hours that everything possible will be done to ensure survival of Air France. Owner of the transalpine dicastery gave an interview to the television broadcaster "France 2", talking about current situation of flag carrier. Future of Air France seems to be in the balance, unless there is a significant cut in costs, while that of the Group that owns it, Air France-KLM, is not in question.
Survival hoped for by Le Maire does not convince the European Union, according to which it is not so obvious after the financial aid obtained (10.4 billion euros if we add those guaranteed by Paris and EU). According to French minister, important efforts will be requested from airline to recover ground from the point of view of competitiveness (read also the news published by AVIONEWS), as well as a series of commitments necessary for what concerns the fight against global warming with a in-depth control of emissions. “We have supported Air France and will continue to do so”: this is the main reassurance of Le Maire, convinced of the fact that drastic cost cuts will be needed in 2021.
