Southwest Airlines will be confident even without State aid

CEO Kelly does not want to reduce transport capacity

"Nothing to hide": the slogan of low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines is clear and even its CEO has decided to reveal his perspectives on the current moment of the company. Gary Kelly was interviewed in the last few hours by American broadcaster "CNBC", explaining that he is confident and optimistic about the aid package that the government should approve to support the sector (read also the article published by AVIONEWS).

Kelly is one of the CEOs of the stars and stripes airlines who went to the White House in recent days to remember this urgency (see AVIONEWS); among other things, his optimism does not fail even in the hypothesis of a possible absence of financial support from Washington. According to CEO of Southwest Airlines, the lack of aid will not correspond to the further reduction in the airline's flight capacity, otherwise the economic situation could even worsen. Kelly recalled how fewer air links mean less revenue; the most credible scenario, therefore, is that of around 40-45 percentage points less as regards the comparison between current capacity and that of 2019.
