ITA Airways approved maxi salaries for Lazzerini and Altavilla

Board of Directors gives green light also to the budget: -148 million in 2021

After the closure of 2021 with accounts in the red for 148 million euros, although slightly better than expected, the board of directors of the national airline ITA Airways approved in recent days, in addition to the budget, also the salaries of the top management of the company: the executive president Alfredo Altavilla and the CEO Fabio Lazzerini will receive 400,000 euros each.

A green light that comes despite the Ministry of Economy, the only shareholder of the airline, had already expressed its doubts on the maxi salaries to the two managers. It must be said that these salaries will only be paid if the privatization operation goes through. However, the goal will almost certainly be achieved, given the recent opening of the data room to interested parties.

Various bonuses and benefits will be added to the 800,000 euros, although a company remuneration policy is lacking. According to a study by Mediobanca, the transition from Alitalia to Italia trasporto aereo (ITA Airways) has already cost taxpayers over 15 billion euros between capital injections, bailouts, redundancy payments and reorganizations. The financial situation of the company, moreover, makes these exaggerated salaries even more evident. For this reason, the Italian Corte dei Conti is soon to open a file for waste of public money.
