Aircraft and transport: 30,000 delays in two days

Copenhagen, Stockholm, London-Heathrow and Amsterdam the most affected airports

More than 30,000 air connections delayed and more than 3,200 flights cancelled. This is the toll of the last two days of operations of airport companies and airlines around the world, grappling with staff shortages and strikes. This is the result of monitoring by the specialized portal "Flightaware", which monitors schedules, routes and status of connections in real time.

This data is a snapshot of the chaos that the air transport sector has been experiencing for the past two months, following the end of the acute phase of the pandemic and the boom in demand for air travel. Airlines and airport operators, in an effort to heal financial budgets, have found themselves scheduling more flights than they would actually be able to operate with the available staff, so delays and cancellations are multiplying.

Suffering the most inconvenience in recent days have been passengers of air carriers China Eastern, Sas, Chinese low-cost Spring Airlines, Dutch Klm, and US-based Delta Air Lines. Among the European airports most affected in recent days are Copenhagen, Stockholm, London-Heathrow, and Amsterdam.
