"Paris Air Show" (2): expected boom in orders

The organizers expect 2,500 exhibitors from 47 countries

On the occasion of the "Paris Air Show 2023" there are few news from the point of view of new aircraft and many orders from airlines. On the occasion of the first meeting since the beginning of the pandemic (the last one in Le Bourget was held in 2019) the companies are expected to enter into numerous agreements with the main aircraft manufacturers. Over 2500 exhibitors from 47 countries are expected.

"Our concern is that the upcycle ends before the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) have placed their order. Admittedly, there is always a certain degree of overordering, but the supply situation is certainly worsening", explained Sash Tusa, analyst at Agency Partners, adding that environmental sustainability will be the watchword of the show.

This was echoed by Carlos Lopez de la Osa, head of aviation at Transport e Environment, a non-governmental organization that deals with environmental protection in transport: "If you want to solve a problem, you have to start by not making it worse. If the continues to grow, sustainable flight will remain a chimera. It's simple math: more planes in the sky means more SAF needed".

As recently highlighted by the annual document "Commercial Market Outlook 2023", produced by the American group Boeing, in the next 20 years the demand for new aircraft will double to 42,595 units. Half of these will replace approximately 21,000 aircraft currently in service. The Airbus manufacturer spoke instead of 40,850 deliveries in the next twenty years.
