The Government of Sweden is considering whether to transfer Gripen JAS-39 military fighter aircraft produced by Scandinavian manufacturer Saab to Ukraine. It was officially communicated by the leaders of the Kiev armed forces. These are aircraft that Ukrainian pilots have already tested and which could form, together with the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, the future fleet of the Ukrainian Air Force.

"The main combat aircraft will be the F-16. The Gripen is also being considered, as the Swedish side can transfer to Ukraine a certain number of aircraft that it has at its disposal today. In any case, the main combat aircraft remains the F-16. If the decision on Gripens is made, this will be a good option for us", said Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat.
